New digital marketplace available throughout the winter with key Summit Days for education and events

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, California – (November 17, 2020) – Registration is now open for Outdoor Retailer Winter Online. Outdoor Retailer’s new digital marketplace and online experience will connect the outdoor and snowsports industries this winter as the place to discover new brands and products, learn from experts, and network with the community. Winter Online will be accessible throughout the winter season, opening on January 6, 2021, with key Summit Days from January 20-23, 2021, and ongoing engagement and education through March 19, 2021.

“We’re looking forward to our ‘Opening Day’ when Outdoor Retailer Winter Online kicks off in the new year,” said Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer senior vice president and show director. “This is more than a three-day show. It’s a winter-long marketplace where brands and reps can meet with buyers and media at any time from January to March, where we can see new and innovative gear all in one place, and where everyone in the industry can connect and learn. Winter Online is efficient for business, and it’s an important opportunity for our community to come together.”

When the Winter Online marketplace opens on January 6, retailers can start visiting brand booths, scheduling appointments, and discovering what’s new. Education also begins on January 6 with the kick-off breakfast. The learning opportunities continue throughout Winter Online with sessions from Outdoor Retailer, Snowsports Industries America (SIA), and the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), including SIA’s Industry + Intelligence programming on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

From January 20-23, the Summit Days will bring together experts for advocacy conversations and trend reports, plus provide community engagement events. Scheduled sessions will include panels from Camber Outdoors, the NPD Group, The Conservation Alliance, and WGSN, among others. The winners of the third annual Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards will be unveiled on Thursday, January 21, and the days will offer a prime time to network and join forum discussions.

“As our demographic has shifted to a younger market, and the older generations are not shopping in stores as often these days, we need a method of discovery like Outdoor Retailer Winter Online to find the new exciting things that are emerging and that will bring fresh life into the stores,” said Kellie Strong, Buyer at Clear Water Outdoor.

Brands interested in exhibiting and participating in Winter Online can contact their Account Executive today. National and international retailers, buyers, and media will be online and connecting throughout the Winter Online experience, from January 6 to March 19. Among the brands planning to exhibit include: Fischer Sports, Helly Hansen, Scott Sports, Volcom, Smith Sport Optics, Meier Skis, W.L. Gore, Phunkshun Wear, Sweet Protection, Bula Sports, Primaloft, Fjällräven, Darn Tough Vermont, Asolo, Schoeller Textil USA, Clif Bar & Co, Masterfit, Killtec, EcoVessel, CAMP and more.

“Winter Online embraces a sustainable and modern way of doing business,” said Jason Badgley, CEO of Phunkshun Wear. “It’s an inclusive platform for retailers, making it possible for all to attend, and reduces everyone’s risk during the pandemic.”

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Outdoor Retailer Winter Online replaces the in-person show and brings the winter sports and outdoor communities together this season. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), the digital marketplace will infer a user’s likes and dislikes, suggest matches, and create a uniquely tailored experience for each user to find products, brands, retailers, and education best suited to their needs. Winter Online will also feature streamlined communication between brands, buyers, and media, including live video conferencing and live one-on-one chats; data-driven lead generation in real time; personalized dashboards and networking opportunities; and a comprehensive schedule of education.
