Fans and Supporters from Coast-to-Coast to Vote for their Favourite
Toronto, ON (November 16, 2020) – The Canadian Premier League announced today the CPL Fan Awards that will officially launch on Monday November 16 via the League’s digital platforms and social channels. Fans will have the opportunity to vote daily (1 vote per day) for their favourite players and plays while entering to win prizes though the CPL Fan Awards nominees web page.
Given the success of our inaugural Fans Awards in 2019, six additional categories have been added. Nominees will be presented for fan voting across nine awards. Fans will ultimately vote and decide on who is the 2020 winner of: Allstate Good Hands Award (Save of the Year), El Jimador Shot of the Year (Goal), Team of the Year featuring the top eleven players across the Canadian Premier League. Additional categories are: Assist of the Year, Fan Favourite Match, Fan Moment of the Year, Best Celebration, We Are One Community Award that focuses and recognizes some of the great contributions by (player, club or supporters: who went above and beyond for their community and eSports Moment of Year that marks the CPL’s first eSports season and highlights some of the video gamer moments that shone brightest in 2020. Voting period: Monday, November 16 (12:00pm ET) – Tuesday, November 24 (12:00pm ET).
“Our fans and supporters are a big part of the League and their knowledge of our players, match moments and the game are important to us,” said Canadian Premier League Commissioner David Clanachan. “Even though there were no fans in stands at the Island Games this year, we know our fans are very familiar with each club’s performance. This is an important year to have our fans show support of their favourite moments from Charlottetown, PEI and an opportunity for all of us to revisit just some of the great highlights from the Canadian Premier League’s 2020 season.”
There will be a range of prizes fans will be entered for a chance to win for participating. The CPL Fan Awards page will be live starting at 12pm ET on November 16 here: canpl.ca/fan-awards. Winners will be announced on November 25.
