Canada Goose lays off 125 workers to cope with COVID-19 impact

Canada Goose Holdings Inc. is permanently laying off 125 employees, about two per cent of its global workforce, as it contends with the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Toronto-based luxury parka maker said in a statement it was a “difficult, but responsible, decision.”

“This workforce reduction is not a diminishment of the colleagues we had to say goodbye to – we value their contributions and they will always be a part of the Canada Goose story,” the statement read.

“We continue to believe in the power of our brand, and a brighter future for the world.”

The company announced last month it was moving to increase its domestic production of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health-care workers across Canada.
