NORTH VANCOUVER, Canada, March 7, 2019 – Two more weeks to get ready for the 2019 Arc’teryx Alpine Academy clinic registration. Clinics usually sell out within the day, so checking out the program and choosing in advance is worth it: More than 70 guided clinics for all types of mountain activities and skill levels are on offer this year. Alongside well-established clinics such as mountaineering, climbing and trail running, the 2019 edition brings plenty of newness: multi-day clinics with world-class athletes, family friendly clinics and more environmental clinics to name a few.
Taking place July 4-7 2019, the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy creates a unique space where beginners and experts alike can learn from 120+ certified mountain guides and 30+ world-class athletes. This year’s program displays more than 70 clinics and 40 different types of mountain activities, skill levels and budgets: mountaineering, climbing, ice climbing, bouldering, hiking, trail running, ski-alpinism, photography and safety.
EXPLORE NEW BOUNDARIES
All guided clinics take place in the surrounding mountains of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and last from one to three days. Trekking & Bivy, Mountain Landscapes Photography and Trail Maintenance: multi-day clinics allow participants to get a full immersion into the chosen clinic topics spending the night in a hut or bivy in the outdoors.
This year, clinic participants can choose from four exceptional multi-day clinics with professional athletes: Mountaineering Progression with Ines Papert (ice climber/alpinist), Ski Mountaineering with Thibaud Duchosal (skier), Climbing & Portaledge Night with Nina Caprez (climber) and Climb & Overnight with Luka Lindič (climber).
The 2019 Arc’teryx Alpine Academy features a new clinic format for families. Youth over 12 years with an adult companion can now participate in selected clinics and advance their bouldering, mountaineering and rock climbing skills.
Environmental clinics on Glaciology & Permafrost and Flora & Fauna (in collaboration with CREA Mont-Blanc) give participants the opportunity to learn from experts about climate change and its impact on the environment. Directly on the field and first hand.
In the multi-day Bolts & Belays and Trail Maintenance clinics participants have the chance to support and give back to the mountain environment and local community. In cooperation with Greenspits, the Bolts & Belays clinic is focusing on the refurbishing of existing climbing routes. During the Trail Maintenance, clinic participants help the local community to maintain remote mountain paths and trails in the Chamonix valley. This clinic runs in collaboration with EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) to raise awareness and support donations for their project “Obsolete Facilities in the French Alps”.
The 2019 Arc’teryx Alpine Academy in Chamonix, France, awaits 450+ alpine enthusiasts from all over the world with the goal to advance their mountain skills and share alpine knowledge. Under a giant transparent canopy right in the centre of Chamonix, Place du Triangle, the Arc’teryx Alpine Village will be the place to hang out. A solid program awaits this year’s edition: speaker series, bouldering wall, movie night, live bands, gear tests, world-class athlete demos. Come over, it is free!
